The employees of OKI Data Americas, a leading printer manufacturer, in partnership with Offtech New England, are proud to support the first annual Tri for a Cure on August 9, 2008. The event, which is the first all women’s triathlon in the state of Maine, will take place on the oceanfront campus of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, Maine. On behalf of the Color Me OKI program, the 1950's Automotive Classic, 1959 Pink Cadillac Series 62 Convertible will be on display as a Tribute Artist performs at the event. Commemorative photos will also be provided free to all attendees in keepsake frames. The restored Cadillac symbolizes the process women must go through when rebuilding their mind, body and souls after battling breast cancer.
The first annual Tri for a Cure is a sprint triathlon in which one hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation. The race kicks off at 8 a.m., beginning with a 1/3 mile swim, followed by at 12 mile bike loop and concluding with a three mile run along the marina from Spring Point Head Light to Bug Head Light.
The Tri for a Cure was created by Abby Bliss & Julie Marchese, two women who care about their community, friends, family and themselves. With a close link to fitness and fighting cancer, they encourage attendees to achieve their personal best and to become an inspiration to others. Their goal is to create a community of people that share a vision for embracing wellness and living life to its fullest.
In addition to supporting the first annual Tri for a Cure, OKI Printing Solutions in partnership with Offtech New England will be sponsoring a team of 13 cancer survivors; providing team attire and celebrating the strength they’ve shown when battling cancer.
“We are proud to be a sponsor of this inaugural fundraising triathlon that focuses on raising money to fund cancer research and patient support programs,” said Offtech Vice President, Dick Page. “Cancer has affected everyone and our company has directly felt the pain of this disease. To support such a worthy cause with such dedicated people was not a difficult decision. We wish all that participate, whether in the race or the countless volunteers, a very successful day.”
The Color Me OKI (www.colormeoki.com) philanthropic program uniquely pairs vintage cars with live entertainment to help support and celebrate the strong women, family and friends that are fighting breast cancer. The personal program stays true to the company’s passion for customer intimacy, which it does by engaging with customers on a one-on-one basis to understand their needs. OKI Data Americas (www.okidata.com), one of the leading printer manufacturers in the U.S., goes beyond traditional service to develop long term partnerships with each customer and make them feel like customers again.
“Offtech has been a partner of ours for years and when they informed us of the opportunity to partner with them and participate in Maine’s first all-women’s triathlon, we instantly said yes,” said OKI Data Americas’ President and CEO Stewart Krentzman. “The employees and I are passionate about the fight against breast cancer and we are excited to support the Tri for a Cure participants, celebrate their strength and provide them with commemorative photos of their participation in this inspiring inaugural event.”
The program supports the corporate philanthropic mission of Oki Electric Industry Company, Ltd., the Tokyo, Japan-based parent company of OKI Data Corporation, which is to undertake social contribution activities that help realize the genuine enrichment of society, and contribute to the quality of life for people around the world.

About the Color Me OKI Philanthropic Program
The Color Me OKI philanthropic program was launched in April of 2007 after the employees of OKI Data Americas voted to adopt breast cancer as the company’s leading philanthropic cause. The backbone of the program is the “Twin Sister,” a 1955 Pink Cadillac Fleetwood that was personally restored by the company’s CEO, Stewart Krentzman and his wife Bonnie. OKI Data Americas decided to pair the vintage vehicle with a Tribute Artist and took the program on the road supporting 21 breast cancer events, while taking photos of attendees and printing them on its digital color printers.
This year, the “Twin Sister” is joined by the 1950's Automotive Classic, the 1959 Pink Cadillac Series 62 Convertible, which has also been restored to support the fight against breast cancer. In 2008 the Color Me OKI philanthropic program is also supporting colorectal cancer prevention. The program is taking the one-of-a-kind 1992 “Spirit of America” neoclassic Corsair to colorectal cancer events in order to raise awareness of such a highly preventable disease. The Color Me OKI philanthropic program, using all three cars, which are owned and maintained by Stewart and Bonnie Krentzman, will continue to spread the message of hope and inspiration to those fighting both breast and colorectal cancers in 2008.
